The Baldon Wind Farm is a proposed 1.4-gigawatt (GW) renewable energy project being developed by Goldwind Australia. The project is located approximately 15 kilometres north of Moulamein in south-western New South Wales and lies within the South-West Renewable Energy Zone (SWREZ). The project area spans the Murray River and Hay Shire local government areas, while also bordering the Edward River Council area to the east.
The development is planned to be delivered in two stages:
- Stage One will involve the construction of 45 wind turbines.
- Stage Two will add a further 135 wind turbines, bringing the total to 180 turbines across the project.
The project will also incorporate a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with an anticipated capacity of 200 MW / 400 MWh, enabling the storage and dispatch of renewable energy to support grid reliability and energy security.
Electricity generated by the wind farm will connect to the existing 220 kV transmission line that traverses the site. This transmission infrastructure is scheduled to be upgraded as part of Project EnergyConnect, enhancing the network's capacity to support large-scale renewable energy generation and improve connectivity across the National Electricity Market.
