Ark Energy is proposing the development of a 500-megawatt wind farm at Yarrabin, NSW, within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

The proposed project comprises:

  • Approximately 70 wind turbines, each with a maximum height of 250 metres and an expected generating capacity of 6–7 megawatts per turbine.
  • Internal access roads and associated drainage infrastructure.
  • Up to two electrical substations.
  • A single operations and maintenance (O&M) facility.
  • Medium-voltage (33 kV) electrical connections, including both overhead and underground transmission cables.
  • Up to three permanent meteorological masts with concrete foundations.
  • Temporary construction facilities, including concrete and/or asphalt batching plants, rock crushing facilities, material laydown and storage areas, two temporary meteorological masts, and a site compound with associated offices.

The wind farm is proposed to connect to the National Electricity Market via the existing TransGrid 330 kV transmission line located west of Lake Burrendong.

The project is expected to operate for approximately 30 years before being decommissioned or repowered.
