The NSW Government has announced a major redevelopment of Circular Quay and its surrounding precinct, aimed at modernising transport infrastructure, enhancing public spaces, and improving accessibility for commuters, visitors, and local residents.
The proposed redevelopment includes:
- Replacement of the existing ferry wharves, including Wharf 1, with new fully accessible wharf facilities.
- Reconstruction and widening of the southern promenade to improve pedestrian capacity and connectivity.
- Upgrades to Circular Quay Station, including the installation of new lifts and escalators to enhance accessibility and passenger movement.
- Replacement of operational and support facilities, including upgraded staff amenities.
- New building developments to the eastern and western sides of the existing station.
- Renewal and enhancement of First Fleet Park.
- New and upgraded public amenities, including opportunities for retail and commercial uses within the precinct.
