Hunter Gas Pipeline Pty Ltd, now fully owned by Santos, plans an underground pipeline routed near the Narrabri Gas Project to supply gas to the east‑coast domestic market as quickly as possible. The 833 km pipeline already has NSW and Queensland planning approval and could link the Wallumbilla Gas Supply Hub to NSW, providing a second route for Queensland gas and increasing market competition.
The design includes offtake points for regional towns, and the corridor was chosen to minimise impacts on communities, landholders, and the environment. The pipeline will also be built to transport hydrogen as demand grows during the energy transition.
