Piambong Wind Farm is a proposed wind energy project by Vestas located at Piambong, near Gulgong in the Central West region of New South Wales. The project proposes up to 81 wind turbine generators with a maximum tip height of 230 metres and a total generating capacity of up to 551 MW. The project area covers approximately 9,000 hectares. The proposal includes one or more onsite collector substations, a new transmission line of approximately 4.5 km connecting to the existing 330 kV transmission network, and a proposed 100 MW / 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) co-located with the onsite substation. Vestas' project website states the project is expected to have a capacity of up to 585 MW and an estimated investment of more than A$1 billion.
