Renewable Energy Systems (RES) is proposing a major renewable energy development near Gulgong, NSW, within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).
The project will comprise a 500 MW solar farm and a 500 MW / 1,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), designed to generate and store renewable energy for dispatch to the electricity grid.
The project scope includes the construction, operation and eventual decommissioning of the solar farm and battery storage facility, together with supporting infrastructure such as operations and maintenance buildings, civil works, and electrical infrastructure required for grid connection.
To connect the project to the transmission network, an 11-kilometre overhead transmission line will be constructed. The project will also share a 330 kV substation located north of the site with the proposed Barney's Reef Wind Farm, another renewable energy project being developed by RES.
