The Calala Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a proposed 300-megawatt (MW) / 600-megawatt-hour (MWh) energy storage project being developed by Equis Energy. The project is located approximately six kilometres south-east of Tamworth, NSW
In addition to the battery storage facility, the project includes an underground transmission line connecting the BESS to the existing Tamworth Substation, along with associated electrical and civil infrastructure required for construction, operation, and maintenance of the facility.
